Digital Equity Accelerator
A program of HP Inc. and the HP Foundation

About the Accelerator
As society becomes more digital, people without access to technology and digital fluency are increasingly locked out of economic and social opportunities. The Digital Equity Accelerator helps nonprofits that are working to advance digital inclusion scale their impact. Since 2022, the Digital Equity Accelerator has served 27 nonprofit organizations across nine countries, helping expand the reach of participating organizations by more than 9.1 million.
The Digital Equity Accelerator offers selected organizations USD $100,000 capacity-building grants, HP technology (~USD$100,000 value), and a six-month, virtual program including training, mentorship, and technical consultations, designed to help strengthen capacity and scale digital equity impact. In 2025, the Digital Equity Accelerator will focus on supporting nonprofits in Greece, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Spain.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you define digital equity?
Digital equity will be achieved when historically disconnected youth and adults have the critical tech skills needed to participate & thrive in an increasingly digital economy. We believe digital equity includes accelerating access to: Technology, Digital literacy & AI, and Digital skills content in order to provide greater access to skills & economic opportunities.
What do selected organizations receive through the Digital Equity Accelerator program?
The Digital Equity Accelerator offers selected organizations USD $100,000 in unrestricted grant funding from the HP Foundation, HP technology (valued at about USD $100,000), and a six-month, virtual program including training, mentorship and technical consultation designed to help strengthen organizational capacity and scale digital equity impact.
What is the estimated time commitment for organizations participating in the Accelerator program?
The 2025 Accelerator program runs for about six months (April-September) and the initial reporting period extends into October. Organizations should expect representatives to engage in the program for about 10-12 hours per week during the program period, including participating in virtual workshops, technical training, mentoring, counseling, and reporting. There are additional opportunities throughout the program year to connect and share information with other Accelerator participants, access a broader network of support, and participate in activities to increase the visibility of your work and organization. Representatives should plan to participate in at least in-person meeting at their respective in-country HP office. From November 2025 through October 2026, the representative would be expected to participate in alum activities such as reporting and storytelling opportunities. As with any program, the more you engage in the opportunities that are made available, the more value your organization will get from the program.
Why is HP investing in the Digital Equity Accelerator program?
HP is committed to ensuring people are ready for the future of work with access to quality education and the digital skills that drive learning and economic opportunities. Nonprofit organizations deliver essential on-the-ground support and are uniquely positioned to remove barriers to access. Yet many nonprofit organizations face their own barriers to resources—time, staff, and financial support—which can challenge their ability to scale fast enough to meet ever-growing digital needs. The Digital Equity Accelerator is one essential way HP is driving progress toward its goal to accelerate digital equity for 150 million people by 2030. By partnering with nonprofit organizations, HP can help scale capacity and advance innovative approaches to bridge the digital divide for youth and adults who are historically disconnected.
What are the reporting requirements for the Digital Equity Accelerator?
We request reporting on direct and indirect reach at baseline (1 year period prior to participation), 6 months and at 18 months after starting the program. We also request reporting on additional quantitative or qualitative information on participant outcomes and impact, but we do not have a list of required indicators given the variation in programming across non-profits working on digital equity.
Are you requesting the number of people reached by the organization overall or for a specific digital equity program?
In general, we are interested in the overall organization reach with digital equity related programming, unless your participation in the Accelerator will be limited to staff from a specific program within a larger organization with minimal interaction of staff working on, or supporting, other programs. We do not request reporting of participant reach from other programming your organization may provide that does not pertain to digital equity.
What do you mean by indirect reach?
Indirect reach refers to individuals not interacting directly with your program but who are served by the technology, digital literacy or digital skills content acquired by your direct participants. For example, if you provide digital skills training to an individual who is able to attain employment as a result of that training, their household members benefit from that economic opportunity and are considered indirect reach. The indirect reach can be estimated using multipliers like average classroom size or household size or can be reported based on program data, if available. We do not include social media impressions under indirect reach.
When are the scheduled times for the accelerator programming sessions?
The exact timing of the accelerator programming is still to be determined (TBD). We are mindful that cohort and team members will be spread across different time zones and will schedule the program accordingly. You're welcome to propose an alternate Team Lead if the timing of the meetings will impact their availability. Please note that the meeting schedule will be confirmed soon, and we will notify selected organizations of exact timing once finalized.

Qualified organizations must meet the following:
Hold active legal registration as a not-for-profit organization
Be capable of receiving funding from a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organization
Perform majority of work in support of people and communities in Greece, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Spain
Be committed to advancing more inclusive and equitable access to education and economic opportunities
Focus primarily on equipping historically disconnected youth and adults with critical skills needed to participate and thrive in an increasingly digital economy
Currently reach at least 10,000 beneficiaries (direct and/or indirect) through the work that would be further scaled through the Accelerator program. Participants with any level of direct interaction/engagement in your program may be counted as a direct beneficiary. Individuals who are not interacting directly with your program, but who are served by the skills and knowledge acquired by your direct participants may be counted as indirect beneficiaries.
Assign a primary contact for the Accelerator program that possesses fluency in English (note: The Accelerator program curriculum, mentoring, and communications are delivered in English language only).
The rise of generative AI is transforming the future of work, at risk of leaving those without fluent digital skills behind and further exacerbating the digital divide. Therefore, we particularly encourage organizations with AI solutions that advance digital equity and strive to address the growing disparity to apply.
