The HP Color LaserJet Pro 3000 Series: An Overview

Launched in May 2024, the HP LaserJet Pro brings HP's premium color printing to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Features

The 3000 Series impresses with features like:

  • Better quality prints: Sharp, clear texts and lifelike images give your documents an impressive magazine-like appeal.

  • Lifelike color: Our TerraJet Toner increases color contrast by 11%, so high-resolution images appear more lifelike.

  • Super-quick print speeds: With fast first page out times and print speeds, you can cut down on time spent lingering at the print station.

  • Secure access: You can work worry-free from cyberattacks and security breaches - with HP Wolf Pro Security.

  • Reliable connections: All our printers automatically re-connect to your office Wi-Fi to ensure uninterrupted service. You can also print from your mobile devices.

  • Space-saving design: With the smallest footprint in its class, the 3000 maximizes your workspace potential, making it ideal for any office.

Available models

Two models are available in Australia - the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw and HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw. Both come with print, copy and scan functions, with the only difference being an added fax function for the 3301fdw. Both are great for small to medium size businesses and offer over 20 pages per minute of color laser printing.

Wireless and Ethernet connections are available on all models. Mobile printing is also standard, so you can print from your smartphone or tablet. Additionally, with HP Wolf Pro Security embedded into the printer and tamper-resistant hardware in place, you can print sensitive documents without worrying about cyber threats and breaches.  This multi-layered security safeguards the printer, network and business data, giving you peace of mind while complying with data protection regulations.

Print quality and performance

We've designed our LaserJet Pro 3000 to deliver high-quality color laser outputs comparable to pricier enterprise options. Here are some stand-out features:

Print resolution and color accuracy

With up to 600 x 600 dpi for both black and color prints, the color access control function allows configuration options by user or application. Color printing can be disabled, helping you keep costs down by ensuring efficient use of resources.

Our advanced TerraJet toner delivers 20 percent more printable colors, allowing you to craft vivid, true-to-life images with excellent color accuracy.

Printing speed

With print speeds of up to 25 pages per minute (ppm) for both black-and-white and color prints, the 3000 series is impressive. Exact speeds may vary, however, depending on system configuration, software apps and document complexity. First page out speeds are impressive as well, with an expected time of around 6 seconds. Colors can take slightly longer, with speeds dependent on the complexity of the image.

Paper capacity

These office printers come with a 100-sheet automatic/manual tray and 250-sheet input tray totalling 350 sheets in capacity. For higher volume requirements, an optional 500-sheet tray is available. In terms of paper size, the printer can support envelopes and paper sizes from 3 by 5 inches to 8.5 by 14 inches. Various paper types - plain, letterhead, cardstock, labels - are also supported and automatic two-sided printing is standard.

Efficiency and Cost

Designed to be environmentally conscious, the 3000 series comes with HP Auto-On/Auto-Off to help save energy costs. Based on normal use scenarios, the HP LaserJet Pro with HP TerraJet ink cartridges can achieve 27% less energy consumption compared to previous models. Also, you can print richer and sharper colors while reducing plastic use in toner cartridges by 28%.

Connectivity and Integration

You'll appreciate the convenience of wireless printing with dual-band Wi-Fi, which automatically reconnects to stay online. Supporting both 5.0GHz and 2.4 GHz, and available with 12 non-overlapping channels, you can expect more stable and faster connections compared to traditional 2.4GHz printers. You can also connect an Ethernet cable from your network port to the rear of the printer for a more conventional setup.

To enhance workflow, the HP 3000 series has the capability to print and scan from the cloud. HP Smart Admin lets you access a range of cloud-based services like remote management, print use tracking, additional user invitations and HP Instant Ink subscription services.

Security Features

These printers come with a range of built-in business-grade features to safeguard your business. At its core, the printer uses secure boot technology and firmware validation to make sure the printer runs authentic HP code when you start it. Firmware is updated automatically, keeping your printer safe from potential vulnerabilities.

To protect data, each unit comes pre-configured with a unique password. This ensures hackers can't access printer settings even when you take it out of the box. The printer's write-protected memory also helps shield your data from potential breaches, while secure cartridges complete the security ecosystem.

Here are some tips to make your printing secure:

  • Enable the secure print function for confidential documents

  • Use strong and unique passwords

  • Set up user authentication for each user

  • Monitor usage with the HP Smart app

Ease of Use and Management

We designed our printers to be as easy to use as possible. Their control panel is intuitive and provides a clear layout of all your settings and print statuses on a 2-inch MGD display. Its 4-button layout, with a directional pad is simple to use, even for those less tech-savvy. With the HP Smart App, you can monitor ink levels, order supplies or even initiate print jobs from a smartphone or tablet.

With remote management capabilities, you can oversee the devices connected to your printer, update firmware and even troubleshoot issues without leaving your desk. This not only saves time, but real-time monitoring capabilities also let you optimize print jobs easily.

Sustainability

Our environmentally friendly printers are made from recycled plastics and are ENERGY STAR certified, meaning they meet energy-efficient guidelines. This results in reduced power consumption and lower energy costs for businesses. TerraJet Toner Cartridges use up to 78% less plastic compared to more traditional ones and are designed to melt at lower temperatures. This allows the printer to use up to 27% less energy than its predecessors.

To recycle your cartridge, take a look at our HP Planet Partners Program. This initiative lets you send back used toners to have them recycled properly and kept out of landfills.
