The HP-97 was popular with both business and technical users.

Code-named "Kitty Hawk," the HP-97 had large keys and a bright LED (light-emitting diode) display. These features, combined with the ease of saving programs and data on magnetic cards (which themselves were interchangeable with the HP-67 models), made this a popular product for business and technical users.
