Are you a Singaporean tech enthusiast looking to connect your AirPods to a Windows laptop? Whether you’re working from home in Bishan or catching up on your favourite shows in Jurong, we’ve got you covered. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the process, step by step, ensuring you can enjoy your AirPods with your Windows laptop seamlessly.
Since their debut in December 2016, AirPods have become one of the most sought-after Apple accessories, even in Singapore’s competitive tech market. Their popularity has inspired other brands to create similar wireless earbuds, but AirPods remain a top choice for many Singaporeans.
While AirPods are designed to work best with Apple devices, they’re compatible with any Bluetooth-enabled device. This means you can easily connect your AirPods to virtually any Windows laptop available in Singapore.
The Bluetooth pairing process is straightforward and only needs to be done once. After the initial setup, you can quickly connect and disconnect your AirPods as needed.
Follow these steps to connect your AirPods to your Windows laptop in Singapore:
Place your AirPods in their charging case and ensure they have at least 20% battery life. This will help ensure a smooth pairing process.
Open the lid of your AirPods case, but leave the AirPods inside for now.
Locate the small, circular Setup button on the back of the case. Press and hold it until you see the LED light flashing. This indicates that your AirPods are in pairing mode.
Click the Windows logo in the bottom left corner (Windows 10) or bottom taskbar (Windows 11) to open the Start Menu.
Click the gear-shaped icon to access your laptop’s Settings.
For Windows 11 users, click “Bluetooth & devices” in the left-hand column. Windows 10 users should click “Devices,” then “Bluetooth & other devices.”
In Windows 10, click “Add Bluetooth or other devices” next to the grey plus icon. Windows 11 users should click the blue “Add Device” button in the Devices row.
In the pop-up window, choose “Bluetooth” from the available options.
Wait for the list of available Bluetooth devices to load, then select your AirPods from the list.
Once connected, a window will appear saying, “Your device is ready to go.” Click “Done” to complete the process.
You’re now ready to enjoy your favourite music, podcasts, or video calls using your AirPods with your Windows laptop.
Once paired, your AirPods should automatically connect to your laptop when in range. However, you may need to manually connect or disconnect them at times.
To do this:
Open the Bluetooth menu as described earlier.
Find your AirPods in the list of devices.
Click “Connect” or “Disconnect” as needed.
If you need to remove your AirPods from your laptop’s Bluetooth list, follow these steps:
Open the Start Menu and go to Settings.
Navigate to “Bluetooth & devices” (Windows 11) or “Devices” > “Bluetooth & other devices” (Windows 10).
Find your AirPods in the list of devices.
For Windows 10, click “Remove device.” For Windows 11, click the three vertical dots next to the AirPods, then select “Remove device.”
If you’re experiencing difficulties connecting your AirPods to your Windows laptop, try these troubleshooting steps:
Ensure your AirPods are sufficiently charged.
Reset your AirPods by placing them in the case, closing the lid for 30 seconds, then reopening it.
Remove the AirPods from your Bluetooth list and re-pair them.
Check that your laptop’s Bluetooth is turned on.
Use Windows troubleshooter: Start Menu > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Bluetooth.
Save time when managing Bluetooth connections with these shortcuts:
For Windows 11:
Click “Show hidden icons” in the bottom right tray
Click “Bluetooth Devices”
Click “Settings”
For Windows 10 and 11:
Press Windows + A to open the action centre
Click the Bluetooth icon to toggle Bluetooth on or off
Right-click the Bluetooth icon and select “Settings”
