Our mission
Striving to make life better for underserved and underrepresented communities by providing technology-related learning experiences and opportunities, together with HP employees.
What we do
We work with strategic partners to scale and activate our digital equity programs in communities all over the world. Our collection of global giving and volunteering initiatives inspire HP employees to share their time, expertise, and passion to make a difference for others. The HP Foundation is a nonprofit.
We support strategic programs and initiatives that help advance HP’s goal to accelerate digital equity for 150 million people by 2030, working with partners to extend our impact in local communities. Through our support of digital equity, we are accelerating equitable access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity for those who are traditionally excluded so they can participate and thrive in a digital economy.
HP LIFE
Our free HP LIFE training platform and mobile app offer more than 30 courses in 8 languages to help students, entrepreneurs, and lifelong learners strengthen their business and digital skills. This HP Foundation program has supported more than 1,43 million learners across more than 200 countries and territories since 2016.
BeChangeMaker
BeChangeMaker is an annual business pitch competition hosted by WorldSkills International and the HP Foundation. Thirty teams take part and receive access to coaching, tools, and resources, including HP LIFE, to help them develop their social business ideas. In 2023, the top 30 teams were chosen from a field of more than 570 applicants representing 87 countries and regions.
Digital Equity Accelerator
The Digital Equity Accelerator helps scale the impact of nonprofits working to advance digital inclusion. In 2024, the HP Foundation has provided $1 million in grant funding to support 10 Accelerator nonprofits working in local communities across Brazil, Canada, and Poland. Since 2022, the Accelerator has served 27 nonprofit organizations across nine countries, helping expand the reach of participating organizations.
Girl Rising
Girls’ education nonprofit, Girl Rising, uses the power of storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education. The HP Foundation provides grant funding to Girl Rising’s Future Rising Fellows program, supporting young leaders working at the intersection of gender equity and climate justice.
NABU
Nonprofit NABU is working to solve the global literacy crisis so every child can read and rise to their full potential. The HP Foundation provides grant funding to help NABU advance its mission to provide every child with equitable access to literacy by 2030 via mother-tongue books delivered on its app, platform, and in print.
Imagine Grants
The Imagine Grants program empowers HP leaders and country managers to provide cash grants to local nonprofits in support of HP’s digital equity goal. In 2023, the Foundation dispersed Imagine Grants to nonprofits in 48 countries, enabling the purchase of technology and the provision of access to connectivity, or to support technology-related education.
The HP Foundation’s giving programs provide HP employees with flexibility and autonomy over the charities they support and make it easy for them to donate.
Employee Cash Match
The Employee Cash Match program enables HP employees to donate to charities that are important to them and to have their donations matched by the HP Foundation, up to $10,000 per employee, per year.
Employees can participate in any of the HP Foundation’s global volunteer campaigns or develop their own activities at any time of year. Every HP employee can use up to four hours per month of paid time to volunteer.
40 Days of Doing Good is our flagship annual volunteer campaign. From the beginning of April into early-May, we invite employees across HP to volunteer – individually or with colleagues – in support of the charities they care about.
In 2024, we introduced We Day, a defined day chosen by each business unit or functional team to volunteer together as a group, further strengthening our commitment to the communities in which we live and work.
The HP Foundation stands ready to support real-time relief efforts when disasters occur, providing grants, creating focused employee relief campaigns, and matching donations.
Grants
The HP Foundation has provided grants to communities affected by natural disasters and other emergencies, strengthening the work of on-the-ground agencies to distribute food, medicine and shelter, as well as accelerating renewed access to education for the displaced.
We are proud members of the American Red Cross’ Disaster Responder Program, a partnership that supports disaster relief by investing in emergency preparedness resources before they are needed.
Relief Month
The HP Foundation’s disaster, humanitarian, and employee relief programs are the bedrock of our annual Relief Month activities. During the campaign, employees donate to featured relief organizations. Employees also volunteer in their communities and virtually by donating blood, teaching disaster preparedness, and supporting other humanitarian activities.
