Will the HP Instant Ink and Paper-Add on Service work for my printer?
HP Instant Ink and Paper Add-On Service work with nearly all printers 5 years old or less and that have a Wi-fi® connection.
How does the HP Instant Ink and Paper Add-on Service work?
HP Instant Ink and Paper Add-on Service are based on pages. Choose a plan based on the number of pages you would like to print monthly, and your ink and paper plans will match. Your monthly fee allows you to use the subscription cartridges and paper to print your plan pages and includes ink, paper, delivery, and ink recycling.
Once you sign up for HP Instant Ink and Paper Add-on Service, forget about going to the store to buy ink and paper! We send you HP Instant Ink subscription cartridges and one or three reams of HP Paper when you first sign up, based on the plan you select. Ink cartridges and paper ship separately. Replacement cartridges and paper are sent when your printer tells HP you need more, not by the month.1
HP only tracks pages printed through your Instant Ink-enabled printer subscribed to this service. The paper we send you should only be used for printing purposes in the subscribed printer. If you use the paper we send you for any other purpose other than printing in your subscribed printer, you run the risk of running out of paper without HP knowing. You are responsible for purchasing additional paper to use for any purpose other than printing in your subscribed printer.
Note: The Paper Add-on service is not available to ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories, military bases or PO Box addresses.
Can I change or cancel my ink or paper plan?
Don’t worry. You can change or cancel your plan anytime with no additional fees;4 however, your paper plan must always match your ink plan (100 pages of paper for your 100-page ink plan, for example). Cancelling your paper plan will not affect your ink plan; however, if you cancel your ink plan, it will automatically cancel your paper plan. If you decide to cancel your HP Instant Ink plan, you can go back to using Original HP Standard or XL cartridges. HP Instant Ink cartridges will not work after the end of the current billing cycle in which you cancel. To continue printing after your billing cycle ends, make sure you have standard replacement ink cartridges ready to use in your printer.
What happens to my unused pages?
If you do not use all your plan pages in a month, the unused pages will be kept in your account as rollover pages, up to 3x the number of pages in your plan (150 pages if on the 50-page ink plan, for example). If you print more, then you can purchase extra pages (pages per set varies by plan). Your plan can be changed at any time to accommodate your printing needs.4
What type of ink and paper will I be receiving?
The HP Instant Ink subscription service uses Original HP Ink cartridges. Ink is sent to you when you’re running low, so you always have new cartridges when you need them. With the subscription service, customers can save up to 50%8 on cartridge costs.
The Paper you will receive is high-quality, 8.5x11, 20lb 96 Bright HP Paper that’s engineered for versatility to support a wide range of everyday printing needs. This paper is designed for optimal performance when using Original HP printers and Original HP cartridges. In addition, it is certified7 by the Forest Stewardship Council® and sourced from sustainably managed forests according to Forest Stewardship Council® standards.
What do I need to sign up?
To sign up for the HP Instant Ink and Paper Add-on Service, you will need:
1. An HP printer that is compatible with this service.
2. An ongoing Internet connection for your printer.
3. A valid email address.
4. A valid credit/debit card for billing purposes.

- Automatic delivery: Printers require direct connection to the Internet for program participation. Internet access sold separately.
- Never run out of ink: Based on plan usage, Internet connection to eligible HP printer, valid payment method, email address, and delivery service in your geographic area.
- Never run out of paper: Based on plan usage, Internet connection to eligible HP printer, valid credit/debit card, email address, and delivery service in your geographic area. HP only monitors pages printed through your Instant Ink-enabled printer subscribed to this Paper Add-on Service. The paper we send should only be used for printing purposes in this subscribed printer. If you use the paper we send for any other purpose other than printing in your subscribed printer, you run the risk of running out of paper without HP knowing.
- Change or cancel anytime with no additional fee: Change or cancel your plan at any time online. If you decide to cancel your HP Instant Ink you can go back to using HP original Standard or XL cartridges. Plan upgrades are effective immediately and the charges will be applied retrospectively or in the next billing cycle, depending on user choice. Plan downgrades and cancellations are effective after the last day of the current billing period. Cancellation of your paper plan will only impact your paper subscription; however, cancellation of your ink plan will automatically cancel your paper subscription as well. - Recycling: Program availability varies. Original HP cartridge return and recycling is currently available in more than 60 countries, territories and regions in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North and South America through the HP Planet Partners program. For details, see hp.com/recycle.
