There wasn't a cap on my ink cartridge. I'm concerned it will dry out prematurely. This is the first time I've ordered directly from HP. I would have expected this if it was a third party seller, but definitely not from the actual manufacturer.

No, the HP 962 ink is not compatible with the HP OfficeJet 8710. The HP 952 ink is compatible.
