Rated 5 out of 5 by Abel1 from Simple set up in minutes. Very easy to set up, quick if you have an existing Google account, a bit longer if not. Seems to be a solid unit with very clear video. A bit heavier than expected, but lighter than a similar sized laptop. Plenty of power for our intended use. Only recommendation is to allow quick setup with an Apple device, only accepts Android devices. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RWeav from Love this Chromebook A. Purchase Decision: I purchased the HP Chromebook x360 14c-cd0097nr as a replacement for my old Chromebook, which is a HP Chromebook X2; purchased in Oct 2018. I selected the 14c-cd0097nr version of the x360 14c line of Chromebook Plus models because it has a solid-state-drive and has a display with WUXGA (1920 x 1200). And, I definitely wanted a "Plus" version to get both the hardware, security, software and AI improvements that the Chromebook Plus models provide. Overall, I am extremely happy with this Chromebook and would give it my recommendation. The purchase decision was especially easy because at the time of purchase, this Chromebook was on sale for $500. B. My Usage I primarily use my Chromebook for normal, day-to-day activities such as: on-line banking, on-line shopping, web-browsing, watching You-Tube videos, reading the news, Google office productivity software - Docs, Sheets and Slides and listening to music. Also, I had done some video editing, with my old chromebook, using the online service WeVideo; I haven't tried video editing yet with the x360 yet but I suspect it will be much easier due to the faster processor and wide screen. Also, I will likely try out some picture editing with this new Chromebook, but haven't done this yet. So, for my most frequent use, text crispness and sound quality are as important, or just slightly more important, than colorful graphics. B. Overall Performance of the x360 14c-cd0097nr: Almost everything about this x360 is a gigantic improvement in performance and functionality when compared to my old Chromebook. (1) The processor (Intel Core i3-1215U) is very fast and I am very pleased with the performance of this Chromebook. I have had absolutely no issues with the responsiveness or speed. (2) The keyboard is very nice to type on; the amount of travel and resistance feels very good. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make the space key a little more firm - it doesn't have quite the same amount of resistance as the letter keys. (3) The touchpad is very nice - this Glass touchpad is very smooth, large and easy to use. It is a big improvement over my old Chromebook. The only additional improvement may be to go to a haptic touchpad. (4) The speakers are also very nice; they produce a decent sound quality over all the sound-ranges. For example when listening to music such as Requiem (Will Van De Crommert) or The Rose (The King Singers) or Gloria in Excelsis Deo (Monteverdi Choir) or Hymn of the Cherubim (The USSR Ministry of Culture Chamber Choir) or The Lonely Ballerina (2005 Michele McLaughlin), the sound quality is pleasant and enjoyable - no headphones or external speaker needed. (5) Display -14 inch display: The 14 inch display works very well with spreadsheets. It allows me to see more columns across the spreadsheet than my old Chromebook. But it is not too big t I greatly appreciate this size of display. - 250 Nits: Before my purchase, I was concerned that the the 250 nit max screen brightness would not be enough. But, while using this chromebook indoors, even when sitting next to a window, the 250 nits are more than enough. I am usually setting the brightness at 40% to 75% of the max for comfortable viewing. When I push the brightness to it's max level, it is uncomfortably too bright for indoor use. Other than my cell-phone, I have never attempted to use a computer outdoors - that's just not a use-case for me. - Pixels per Inch: The only aspect where my old chromebook had a slight advantage was the in display's pixels-per-inch. My old Chromebook has a 12.3-inch 2K display with (2,400 by 1,600) pixels which translates to about 312 ppi; this version of the x360 chrombook has a 14 inch display with WUXGA (1920 x 1200) which translates to about 165 ppi. So a big drop in ppi and I was somewhat concerned about going from 312 ppi to 165 ppi. But surprisingly, I found that the display on the x360 is actually pretty good; much better than I expected. From my normal viewing distance of about a foot and a half (18 inches), I can't tell too much of a difference. When I examine the two screens from a very close distance (about 6 inches or less), then the differences in ppi are noticeable. So, overall, I am happy with this display. Nevertheless, I was curious as to why I didn't see a tremendous difference in screen quality given the very large difference in ppi. So, I consulted with Google's AI Gemini. This is what Gemini explained: ------------------------------------------------- "At a viewing distance of 18 inches, the difference between 312 PPI and 165 PPI on a 14-inch screen would become even less noticeable than at 14 inches. Here's why: Increased viewing distance: As you move further away from the screen, the perceived difference in pixel density diminishes. This is because your eyes are less able to resolve fine details from a greater distance. Angular resolution: The human eye's ability to perceive detail is limited by its angular resolution, which is the smallest angle between two points that the eye can distinguish. As viewing distance increases, the angular resolution required to see individual pixels becomes finer, making it harder to tell the difference between different PPI values.   In practical terms: At 18 inches, both the 312 PPI and 165 PPI screens would likely appear quite sharp and clear for most content. You might still notice a slight difference in text clarity or image detail if you look closely, but it would be very subtle. Think of it like this: Imagine looking at two paintings, one with fine brushstrokes and one with slightly coarser brushstrokes. Up close, you can easily see the difference in detail. But as you step back, the differences become less apparent, and both paintings appear more similar. Ultimately, the best way to know for sure is to compare the two screens side-by-side at your preferred viewing distance. However, based on the principles of human vision and display technology, it's safe to say that the difference between 312 PPI and 165 PPI would be very subtle at 18 inches for most users." --------------------------------------- (end of Gemini quote) So,I learned that there are significant diminishing returns for when paying for increased ppi. The WUXGA (1920 x 1200) on this x360 Chromebook is very good. While I would have probably paid a little more to get to around 200 ppi, based on Gemini's information, it would probably be a waste of money to get tremendously more ppi than what WUXGA provides; the human eye just can't see a difference in increasingly high amounts of ppi from a normal viewing distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OldBarry from Speedy laptop at the high-end of Chromebooks. So far, we are happy to have bought the higher end Chromebook Plus, with the i5 CPU and Iris graphics, 8GM of RAM. Working very smoothly with Zoom meetings and the other usual online activities. Files management is adequate, and we use Google Drive and Photos for online backup. in all, very speedy machine for startup, updates, and shut down. Would like to be able to use secure (read or write, password-protected) external drives but no luck there. Not enough reason to retreat to Windows.
