HP's PageWide Printer Out and HP's LJ Pro Printer In---
I operated my HP PageWide Pro MFP 477 printer for more than six years (03/05/2018 to 12/23/2024) when it failed (no longer able to print number 10 business envelopes from Drawer 1). I then bought my HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdw Printer on 12/29/2024. I have used it often since December 29, 2024. I like that it scans my documents twice as fast as my old PageWide printer scanned documents. Both my PageWide and my LJ Pro printers make nice looking printed pages. I have two objections about my LJ Pro printer: (1) 14 inch documents when scanned come out slightly cock-eyed on the resulting PDF document record, and (2) I apparently cannot slave my LJ Pro printer so that it makes good copies of my receipts on my Quicken Premiere software and database (owned and used since winter of 1998). I miss my PageWide printer's 14 inch scan bed that LJ Pro printers do not have. Both my PageWide and my LJ Pro printers produce slightly cock-eyed PDF scans. I CANNOT attach two images ("Add photos") showing what my LJ Pro printer cannot do but that my old PageWide printer was able to do (i.e., make good copies of my receipts for my Quicken Premier software and database). Lastly, I like HP printers and HP's American sales representatives. I'll buy more HP printers in the future too. Thank you.

Lost a feature available on previous Laserjet Pro printers
The HP MFP 4301fdw is a great printer. However, there is one feature that is no longer on the MFP 4301fdw that was on the previous laser printers (like MFP m279fdw. That feature is the ability to print a thumbnail of the first page of a fax on the confirmation page. I called HP support and their comment was that because of a new firmware on the MFP 4301fdw, that feature was unavailable, and that is just the way it is. Ask if I could understand why, they said I could open up a case and HP may respond in 2 days or may respond in 6 months. Support acted as if they did not care and were not very helpful.

Mostly happy...
I downsized/downgraded from a Savin printer at the end of its useful life. I didn't need a lot of paper features. I'm trying to reduce the use of paper and do more online editing and such. So, I bought the 4301. It is a lot quicker than the old clunky Savin and the quality seems just as good. I specifically asked the guy at HP if this model was user-friendly, and if I could set up the "multi-functions" by myself. I got it working, but it still thinks I am a guest. I tried to add me as a user and screwed it all up. The informational videos only help with the obvious stuff. They are really no help at all...thus the 4.

Awesome printer!
I purchased this to replace an older HP multifunction laser printer that I had been using for 14 years that was getting a little long in the tooth, not to mention it was the size of a compact car. This printer has exceeded my expectations so far. Setup was relatively easy although I ran into issues setting up the email server, entirely due to some quirks with Office365, but was able to get that sorted. I love the AirPrint functionality, and the speed of the printing is incredible. Also, this printer is astonishingly quiet. I highly recommend this printer.

Good replacement for former, long-lasting HP printer
This is a replacement for a 10 year old (!) LaserJet Pro MFP 477fdw that finally gave up the ghost. I really like the speed and the option for auto two-sided printing. It was easy to set up and seems reliable. The plastic on the manual feeder and paper drawer is cheaper, I hope it lasts. For the most part I am very happy. You must use HP-chipped toner cartridges which means it is much more expensive to run. But that seems to be the way of the world. I got a very good price during an HP sale. The only issue was the first one I ordered never arrived. So, I was printerless for too long. After contacting HP customer service via chat a view times, they finally did get one expedited out to me.

Refurbished Laserjet set up
I like the printer, however the set up instructions on line were very difficult to follow. I finally had to get local support to finish setting up the scan function which originally ddid not work correctly.

Graduate Degree Required to Set Up for Use???
I hired a computer geek (who services my husband's computers at his business) to unpack and install my new printer. He couldn't figure out how to set it up being hard wired to my laptop, so it is set up to be wireless. I also bought the 550 sheet feeder tray, so my 8.5" x 11" paper is in that and I have legal in tray 2. This printer is for home use, and so far it is working ok, but there have been glitches when I have tried to change the paper size in any of the trays. I got around the glitch by pulling all the drawers out and making sure Tray 1 had the paper I wanted to use fed into it. The User guide is 173 pages long and many times refers you to the HP website, so that isn't very helpful. Also, I can't find a phone number anywhere to call HP and speak to a human being for help. The printer is working okay, but I feel like I never would have gotten it working if I hadn't hired someone to help me set it up.

2 Months No Power Cord
I received my printer without a power cord and called to let them know the same day. Three times I was asked to check the box, instead of being helpful. Once I finished the request, I was told it would be sent out right away with 2-day shipping. It has been two months since that request and just recently got a message that they were sending it. I of course had already bought a cord and spent more money in HP’s failure to have good customer service. Never again!

Terrible customer service and defective product
I bought a reconditioned color, laser printer in order to avoid the continued dance of ink jet printer cartridges. The printer did not work from the get-go. Many hours on the phone with HP reps trying to fix the problem, until they concluded that they had to send a technician out and replace the paper feeder. Three tries and finally, they found a technician, who came on the day of my move. I did not have a chance to try the printer until I moved and had internet connected ( as of today). Unsurprisingly, I am unable to hook the printer up to my Wi-Fi. Again the misery of a call to HP, 25 minute wait, a rude and unintelligible agent who hung up on me after about a minute. Call back wait for one hour on the phone, only to hear a message that they were unavailable and to call back. These issues have had a detrimental effect on my life and are not merely numerous and very meaningless apologies for “inconveniences”. Losing many hours of my time Is a harm to me—not an inconvenience. Further, I still don’t have a printer I can use, right at the time in my life when I have most needed it. HP used to be a great company with excellent customer service. Now it is among the worst.

THIS COMPANY HAS GONE DOWNHILL!! I ORDERED A "NEW" PRINTER AND WHEN IT ARRIVED, THE BOX SHOWED REFURBISHED. I CALLED AND THE PEOPLE WERE UNPROFESSIONAL AND INEPT. I RETURNED THE ITEM THE NEXT DAY, AFTER HAVING THEM ORDER A "NEW" PRINTER REPLACEMENT. THEY INDICATED THEY WOULD EXPEDITE THE NEW ONE. THEN A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN I HEARD NOTHING FROM THEM, I FOUND OUT THEY WOULD ONLY SHIP THE NEW ONE WHEN THE OLD ONE WAS RECIEVED AND INSPECTED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WAS SO UPSET, I CANCELED THE REPLACEMENT AND ASKED FOR A FULL REFUND, WHICH WOULD ONLY OCCUR AFTER 2 WEEKS. I SIMPLY CALLED MY CC COMPANY AND DISPUTED THE CHARGE. HP USED TO BE A GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY HAVE JOINED THE RANKS OF POORLY RUN AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I WILL NOT BUY FROM THEM AGAIN

Great printer, okay software
The printer itself is great. It's much faster than my previous HP color laser all in one, which was about 10 years old and getting crotchety. I don't have a ton of print volume, but the times I need it, I need it to be relatively quick and reliable. The scanner also seems to work well, and getting it set up to send from my gmail account (with a temporary password) worked relatively smoothly.
The software could use some finessing. It's nice that you can log in from a computer using the IP address and that you can change a lot of the settings there, but there are some minor annoyances and things that aren't super intuitive. For example, setting up the default scan to email shortcuts is great, but it would be even better if I could select the order that I want them to show up. Instead, I had to go in and monkey around with editing the presets to have the most recently modified ones show up first.
Also, I find it REALLY annoying that some of the features (the webscan/EWS stuff) only work if you click the box allowing HP to monitor for and require genuine HP cartridges only. Listen, HP, if you guys started making cartridges that were about half the price of what you're currently selling them for, I'd be all over it, and you guys would still make a decent profit. But the crazy prices you're charging mean that of course people are going to look for aftermarket suppliers. I don't want to be held hostage by HP on toner pricing, so I skipped the additional features.

All around home or office printer!
My wife and I have a business so we need to have a good quality printer to print documents and other items. My kids are also big printer users and they love this printer. The printer setup is easy and i life how fast it prints! Its prints super clear and the colors are vibrant and seem to last long. The dual paper trays are a nice touch and i love it has an automatic feeder. The touch screen works easily and fast and is super easy to read and maneuver. It connects easily to your devices and the HP app although it does have to be hardwired to the router! I like having 1 printer at least hardwired since it does get the job quicker and prints faster but no WIFI on this printer! This has become an all around printer for our home and is great for school projects, home office and much more. It’s an all around printer, copy scan, and fax and I haven’t had any issues with using any function.

Printer works well—eventually
I had trouble setting up this printer but HP helped me through the process. The only issue I have is that the printer that has ONE fully loaded paper tray keeps replying to the computer that it is “out of paper.” I don’t know how to correct this problem —VERY frustrating. Eventually I get I get the printer to print but it takes a long time to get to that point. Once the printer produces a page, all other print tasks get printed.

One “Happy Camper” owning and operating this printer!
This printer replaces a very similar printer (Laser Jet Pro 477) so the learning curve has been shortened and there are no surprises. First, this printer/scanner/copier/Fax was easy to install. I did everything myself except lift the printer from the packing box to my desk. Thank you for making that task so simple! Learning to operate this machine was also very simple. As already mentioned, I used a similar HP printer for many years. My comments about the functioning of this printer are all positive. The print quality is excellent! The machine operates with minimal noise. The sheet feed has not created problems so far. One purely personal reaction to this printer is my dislike for the “modern” design of the cabinet.

I had a very difficult time setting the printer up until I discovered it is not WiFi, it is a networked printer. Once I ran an Ethernet cable to the printer it was smooth sailing from there. It prints good quality, crisp, clear documents in record time! I am loving the duplex and scan features . Overall, it’s a good printer that would be great if it was WiFi.

Returned Nonfunctional Printer
Printer arrived quickly. Setup was without issue. Windows printer test fine however printer would not print double sided nor scan double sided. Back side on each process was black page. HP tech support was very hard to get hold of and not that helpful. HP did authorize return of product but the whole process has made me a bit gunshy of purchasing a remanfactured product. It’s an expensive printer and process.

Great Color Printer
This HP LaserJet is a great color printer. I have printed over 500 pages on it so far and each page looks great. Crisp color very vibrant and much faster than my older inkjet printer. If you are looking for a new printer to get, I would highly recommend this model. I have hooked it up with all of my devices (two laptops, iPhone, android phone, iPad) and I am able to print and scan wirelessly with ease using this printer. As I said before this printer is great and highly recommended if you're in the market for a color laser jet

Excellent printer
I love the printer, it’s super fast when making multiple copies for my work, color quality is brilliant, print quality is good, prices of the cartridge are too expensive but hopefully this will last a while. I also wish that it has internet available via wifi instead of just the hard wired connection limits your option to place the printer in certain areas. Overall enjoying the printer it gives speed flexibility of work printer at home

Two major problems
The two problems are 1) the HP does not enclose printed documentation on where one can download the software for the computer using the printer and 2) The printer is far too sensitive to paper-curling caused by high humidity (when printing double-sided, the paper gets stuck on the second pass of the page.)

Solid Printer With Some Limitations
The quality of the output is excellent. On the down side when scanning multiple pages the last page is frequently pulled through with the next-to-last page. The file size of scanned PDFs is also quite large compared to business class devices.

Super fast
This laser printer is a real workhorse. Prints crazy fast, able to print color & on both sides and can scan & copy. Perfect for home office or if you have kids with many projects. This can print all kinds of things. I also like the big menu screen. Compared to my old printer which had a very dim and small screen, this is night and day difference.
On top of that it is very quiet which I like to most.

Awesome... except USB cable is not include
The initial setup of the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdn was a nightmare at first, I only had a networking cable connected. Neither my computer nor network would recognize it. Then I found an old USB cable…
With the USB connected to a computer and the network cable plugged into the wireless router, It was up and running within 2 mins. All drivers and firmware updated automatically.
The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdn prints and scans both quickly and beautifully. Anything connected to the wireless/network has access to it, cellphones, laptops, tablets, computers… The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdn is robust in size so you are going to need to give it its own space but you get a lot in that package. It’s the new gem of our home office. I would highly recommend.

The page yield for each depends on which toner cartridge you use:
HP 212A Black Standard Cartridge: Approximately 5,500 pages.
HP 212X Black High Yield Cartridge: Approximately 13,000 pages.
These estimates are based on standard 5% page coverage. If you're printing more densely, the yield will be lower.
