You get what you pay for
I purchased this printer to help me be more efficient in my office and was attracted by the low price. When I received it I disappointed to find how small the ink cartridges were, and that the color cartridge contains all three colors. It took a lot of work to get it connected to the wifi. When it was connected I found the printing and scanning to be very slow. Also, I discovered the document tray feeder was inoperative. I also have a HP6978 which is much faster and reliable, with individual color ink cartridges.

Great but…
The set up wasn’t too bad but with a little patience I was able to get through it because the instructions were general, but not specific enough particularly the control panel should have an explanation for each button. The quality of printing was excellent and fast.
The document feeder worked, but I can’t get it to print the document I inserted into the feeder. There was no specific instructions on the use and troubleshooting of the document feeder.

Never got it to work. Couldn’t even copy. Despite talking with support 3 times, still couldn’t get it to connect to WiFi. Wouldn’t pull paper through when just trying to copy.Waiting for label to return via FedEx.

Copy, scan, and mobile printing
My first use of the HP DeskJet 4255e was to make some copies. Since the printer/copier/scanner is only plugged in when needed, it took multiple tries to plug it in and print because the plug kept falling out, which resulted in an annoying paper jam. Later on, with more patience and using the HP app for help, was able to clear the jam myself and finish making the copies. I like the mobile printing function. After downloading the HP app, documents can be sent to the printer while I’m out and about.

HP Printers
Hands down, HP printer's are the best there is. With the easy to follow instructions or with a disk it is so easy to set up your new printer. Super easy to upload and install. Somewhat a little difficult with wi-fi. But would buy HP Printers everytime.

It's a good printer, however....
It's a good printer, however, the top part for documents has us both scratching our heads. Neither one of us has seen any instructions on how to work this piece. The printer does a good job printing, standard HP printer stuff. It's better for home use and not for office only because it doesn't make "sharp images" as I agree with one reviewer. HP makes good printers and the ability to have both ink and paper with Instant Ink saves us both time and money (so I'm not running to the store for ink).

Perfect printer for my home and family
The HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One Printer its the perfect printer for me as a someone who resells clothes online. It is very easy to switch from regular paper to labels. Having the paper feeder where I could see was a plus. The convinience of having a feeder to copy pages on the outside its perfect since i do not have to continusly open the printer, I can just put all pages at once. This printer also saves a ton of ink since I print labels, reports, and my grandchild uses for school. The other amazing thing about this printer is that we can print from any device and from anywhere in our home.

Great Printer
The HP 4255e all in one inkjet printer is an allround office/home solution. The printer is very well built and is lightweight. It is white in color with a gray accent. It has a small LCD display and several function buttons. It was very easy to set up using the HPSmart app. It comes with two sets of ink, a color cartridge and a black. This printer can be used via USB, Wi-Fi direct, or it can be connected to a network via Wi-Fi. I was able to install it on my Windows PC without the app and Android OS using the HP smart app. If you want to be able to use all the printer features in Windows OS, you will be required to download the HP Smart app. I was not able to use the scanner without the HP smart app. I tried using it with Windows' own scan app, but the printer didn’t even show up on the list. The windows scan app is very limited. Also, you will not be able to scan using HP's own app unless you create an HP account, which I found troublesome.
There are two ways to scan, using the automatic feeder or the flat glass. The glass supports paper size up to A4 or Letter 8.5x11. It seems that this scanner does not support dual side scan. The scan quality is pretty good. When scanning you have to manually select the source as the printer is not smart enough to figure where the document is located. Scanning quality is good and goes up to 1200 dpi with the lowest at 300. The scanning speed was fast and very quiet.
Printing s fast and easy with good quality. This printer holds up to 60 sheets of paper on the paper tray and 35 on the ADF tray. The control panel is a small LCD screen and several buttons. It only displays several settings like paper count, brightness and other common features. On the screen you also have an ink level indicator as well. I missed out on the free 6 months of free ink. Wish I could contact someone about that. Otherwise they have a reasonable price for refilling the ink.
This HP printer and they are reliable. It does the job well, quiet, fast and it’s cost efficient to maintain. It is easy to use and set up. This printer is 60% made of recyclable plastic. It orders inks automatically if you subscribed to the program and you can recycle the used ink cartridges for free. In the box you get the printer, power cord and manuals and two sets of ink.

Great Upgrade
We have had an HP printer of some sort for probably the last two decades. They’re reliable little workhorses that are great for families or at-home work that requires small batch or occasional printing. I love the feed tray on top. It gives big office copier vibes! The scanner works well too. The print quality is great. My only complaint is that wireless printing can be a pain. Even with the HP app, the printer doesn’t always connect with the device I’m trying to print from (and I know it’s not an internet issue). I’m hoping we get it figured out soon, but I’ve usually been able to find a work around to get what I needed printed.

All in one printing at home
The HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One Printer has been a great addition to my home office. It’s compact and fits nicely on my desk, and it handles printing, scanning, and copying without any issues. Setting it up was simple, especially with the help of the HP Smart app, which guided me through the process. The only downside is that the ink can be expensive, and it’s a bit slow when printing large batches. Overall, though, it’s a solid, affordable option for everyday home use.

Good for Light Printing Tasks
Being in the field of education for longer than I care to admit, I have had plenty of experience dealing with many different types of printers. I bring that knowledge to give an honest review of the HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One Printer.
Setup was simple because it only requires one plug. Downloading the app and having my laptop recognize the device took a while. That being said, once the device is recognized, it is easy to print.
When it comes to design, it's a bit tricky to access the internals because there's only a small opening in the front. This could be a problem for people with larger hands, as the front opening is the only way to replace ink cartridges (which you'll need to do often if you print regularly) or deal with paper jams. Plus, the printer needs to be on to access the ink cartridges. There's only a rear paper feeder with a small 60-page capacity, so you'll be adding sheets frequently. And there's no menu on the printer itself; you'll have to use your PC or mobile device for settings and maintenance tasks.
The ink cartridges have a low yield and need frequent replacement. Accessing them is a hassle, as you can only reach them through a narrow front door. The same goes for the sheet rollers - you can only access them through the front door, with no other access points on the printer. You'll also be refilling the paper tray often since it only holds 60 sheets.
The printer is compatible with the HP Smart app, which lets you order ink, manage your ink subscription, access printables, send mobile faxes (with a paid HP+ subscription), scan documents with your device's camera, initiate scans, and perform maintenance tasks. The ink cartridges are small, so get ready to change them frequently. You get three months of ink included with the printer through HP's subscription service, HP Instant Ink. But once you start using this service, you can't use cartridges from third-party manufacturers.
Overall, this printer is fine for light home use. But as an educator, I need something more robust.

The Professional Sidekick You Need!
This printer was exactly what I was looking for and will now help increase my productivity not only for the work I do professionally but also the work I do personally as an MA student! It was very easy to set up so if you're not the most tech savvy person, don't worry! The directions are easy to follow and will have you up and running in no time! I love the wifi capability on this printer which allowed me to conveniently print wirelessly through the hp app from my iPhone while I lounged on the couch, saving me a trip to grab my laptop just to print a document. The pages printed pretty quickly and quietly. I was also able to scan some money orders for my mom before she mailed them out so that she'd be able to keep a record of them and photocopied my company credit card so that I can lock the card up and carry the copy in my purse for quick online purchases. All in all I give this printer a 10/10 and think you will also be pleased with the capabilities in this compact device!

Easiest installation ever!
I actually had to install this printer under duress. My old printer wasn't working anymore and this one came right on time. My bank needed me to sign a document and it was right around closing time. I had to hurry up, open the box and get this printer installed ASAP. I couldn't believe how quick and easy the installation was. It connected to the wifi so easily. It was definitely the best installation experience I've ever had. The print quality is great. It prints so fast, even in color. Two-sided printing was a little trickier and that was disappointing. I would prefer automatic double sided printing but you need to sit by the machine while it prints the first side and then feed the paper back into the printer to print the other side. I wasted a lot of paper not understanding how to do this at first. The 3 months of free ink and paper is a really nice perk and the subscription that lets the printer communicate with HP to send paper and/or ink when it's needed it's also really great. It's cost effective too. I prefer paying a membership for $6/mo instead of having to shell out over $50 when I need ink. Overall a great product and super happy with it.

Great Printer!
I have used this printer for a little over a week. I like the compact size of it, it prints in both black and white and color, and it has the ability to copy and scan documents. However, I do not like that I had to download an app on my phone and computer to set up and print documents. Also, it prints fairly slow compared to other printers. However, I do like the size of the printer and the capabilities that a small printer like this can do. Overall, I do recommend this printer to others.

All in one mobile friendly home printer from HP
From unboxing to first print, the process took less than ten minutes—I'm genuinely impressed. As a busy full-time professional, single father, and full-time college student, this printer exceeded my expectations right out of the box. Installing the app on my phone was seamless, and I was up and running in no time. Connecting to Wi-Fi was simple, and the test prints were flawless on the first try. Using the copy function was equally effortless.
I highly recommend this printer for people with busy lives. The added bonus of 3 free months of HP Instant Ink is a great feature. Its compact footprint made it easy to find space for in my already cluttered office. Overall, I would recommend this printer to anyone in need of a reliable, fast, and easy-to-use solution right out of the box.

This is a fairly useful printer if you only have to print occasionally. It was very easy to set up and easy to connect to Wifi. I like the ink subscription that automatically orders ink for you so you never run out. For the downsides: The print quality is not as crisp as my other printers. The lines and images are a bit fuzzy around the edges. Secondly, this printer is very loud and disruptive. Finally, it is supposed to print double sided, but I could not figure out how to get it to do that. I researched on the internet and in the owners manual with no luck. Overall, this printer is acceptable quality for basic users, but the quality is not as good as many others I have used.

Wireless, mobile compatible print, scan
The installation of HP DeskJet 4255E was simplified through the connection with the mobile device (I used an iPhone) to set it up. Where I may have needed more details than the set up guide showed, the HP app showed an illustration of the printer and what needed to be checked. It printed the alignment page flawlessly first. Next, when it attempted to print the test page, it wasn’t until over 6 minutes elapsed attempting to go through the processing twice, before it finally printed on the third attempt. I do not like the pull out L shape designed extender that is meant to support paper on the output tray. The extender feels like an oversized plastic bookmark. It doesn’t seem as supportive as traditional full sheet pull out extensions. The test page color print quality is excellent. After that completed, I sent the link to a couple other mobile devices. One iPad was able to use the HP app to connect easily enough. The other iPad did not and I set it aside for a later time. I plan to also connect a laptop and maybe another device or two. It seems like this will be very useful in scanning and printing documents from a variety of devices wirelessly. It is not the quietest printer I have ever used. However, I like the seamless ability to print from a variety of devices, including remotely. When not in use, I disconnect the power cord, which is the only necessary cord. If I sign up for their instant ink ready subscription, HP will supply the first three months at their expense before a monthly fee is charged. Overall, I’m glad I patiently waited for the backordered 4255e to ship.

Perfect printer for my home and family
As I was looking for a new printer for my home and family I decided to get the the 4255e printer since it was an all-in-one printer. Having a teenager in college, my husband working from home, and myself using the printer to print out other stuff this printer has been amazing. My daughter has been able to print her homework from her tablet without having to go to a computer, my husband uses as a scanner for documents, and I have used it to make projects such as banners and invitations. One of my favorite things about this printer is that anyone can print from any device wirelessly and I could also pick the quality of the ink that i want for each project in order to save ink. I do wish that the paper feeder would had been hidden and that it could had had the feature of double sided printing without me manually inserting the papers back to the feeder. Overall it is a good printer and a good decision on getting the 4255e printer.

I have bought HP printers from you for years. This is the 1st time i have had multiple problems getting my printer to download and work. I couldn't get it to install using the phone app or the computor instructions. I had to call tech support 4 times before we could get the problem resolved. They were VERY helpful. Also had there been a booklet to follow would have been extremely helpful. I still cant get it to make mulitple copies or how to scan. I am so tired of having to go online and look up what the problem is. A booklet would be VERY HELPFUL.

I got this printer to use for personal use and for my business. It has been wonderful for both. The print quality has been great, and I love that you can print at different qualities, so I can do quick prints or it will take its time to make the print high quality. It fits perfectly on a thin table or desk without taking up too much room. It was easy to set up and connect to multiple devices with ease. It has feeder trays and extension arms in several places making it easy to take on bigger jobs for work-related projects as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a good mixed use printer.

Sleek design and compact
The printer is compact and has a sleek design. It has some great features and some not so desirable features. I love that is it compact and that it only uses two ink cartridges. It is super easy to install and set up the app makes scanning super simple. However, some undesirable features I find are that the paper feeder is exposed and at the top of the printer paper to get dusty if you don’t print a lot. If you want to print double sided, you must manually load the paper into the top of the printer for the second side. And it appears you cannot use the printer much without using the app. Otherwise, it seems to print fine for the little amount of printing we do. And the scan to your phone is so easy and definitely helps send clear images of documents if needed.

Standard HP quality
One thing I have always said is that if it's one thing HP does right, it's their printers. With the printers ability to print, copy and scan, it great for everyday use. I unboxed the printer, installed the ink, and turned it on. Very easy set up. You download the HP Smart application, sign in or sign up if it's your first use, link the printer to your account and Voila! You're ready to print. A function I really like is the security printing where it will only print when you are nearby. I haven't found the ability to email the printer something you want to print out, as my previous HP printer had. Also, not quite sure how to use the document printing ability and the instructions don't tell you how to either.. I would recommend this printer because of its easy set up, quick printing, and good quality of the pages it prints. Unfortunately, the first ink is only enough for set up so you have to wait for HP to send you more. For me, it's an excellent upgrade from my previous HP hence the 5 stars.

I really like this printer. What I like even more is the OPTION to be on their renewal ink/paper schedule. THEY KNOW when I need ink, and don't need to panic when I see it start to fade! THEY ARE ON IT! And receiving paper as well, amazing. No panic, as NO where around here sells ink for printers! Great printer, great buy, and I will stay with HP. Been there for decades, won't change.

Good Printer
This printer is a work horse. It prints, scans and copies both black and white and in color. It is a bit larger than some of the other printers for home use that I have seen though. It works well with my android phone and my iPad, but so far, I can't configure it for my Chromebook, although it says that you can in multiple places online. It does seem like there is a quirk in it that I need to figure out. So far so good I would say. I would also state that this is for the needs of a home user and not for an office setting, as the print quality is average. It is really nice to have at home. The bluetooth feature is a big plus.
