Rated 5 out of 5 by Rex C from New Dog has New Tricks Replacing two HP Laptops that are over ten years old, going back to HP was a no-brainer. Some of the new features will take a little time to get use to, but we are extremely satisfied with our purchase of these two laptops. Combined with our MS Software we have our computer needs completed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Elkriver3 from LOVE THE KEYPAD! I had a hard time setting up as I never received the email with the code for the Office program I paid for. I finally had to have that cancelled and refunded, then order it again. It was hard to get that situation finally organized with HP as they kept saying they were sending me a code and it never came. Somehow, I was finally able to actually talk to a real person, who solved the problem. The actual computer is great, and I love the keyboard, as It has white letters on dark gray keys, so I can see them. I also love the ability to use "touch screen,"

Rated 4 out of 5 by jpmcnam from review of HP laptops and ads The computer is fine. HP continues to make good products. The computer does what computers are supposed to do. I do have a problem with constant and insulting and annoying ads and prompts and 'we recommend using HP ink, HP plug ins, HP condoms, whatever. It is annoying, and it certainly won't make me by HP products. You make enough money. Relax and treat your customers a little better than shills. thanks for making good computers and printers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jdrch from The only current gen CPU 17" 4K laptop on the market Pros: Absolutely stunning display. Thin. Gorgeous design. 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports. Upgradeable RAM. Keyboard with automatic backlight. Excellent price for the specs ($1209). Relatively quick warranty repair that actually follows user instructions. Cons: No Core Ultra 9 option. The Core Ultra 7 155U is no slouch, but with only 2 performance cores it'll likely be too slow within a couple years. Nvidia 30series dGPU is 2 generations old and choosing it requires choosing a slower CPU. Laptop won't POST with more than 64 GB RAM despite the CPU supporting 96 GB. BIOS looks straight out of 2001 and is unbecoming of the Envy brand. A simple DIY upgrade while following the user manual bricks the PC, resulting in a warranty repair <- this is the only laptop I've ever experienced this with. Product registration is difficult, it took forever for the laptop to show up under my account. HP store accounts and HP user accounts are somehow separate. 3rd party 64 GB RAM upgrade is relatively hard to find. While the warranty repair itself is quick, shipping is too slow for the Envy brand. Main reason I bought this laptop is I wanted a 4K display and have difficulty using 4K displays at pixel densities less than 17 in. Alas, this is the last laptop on the market with Core Ultra or newer CPU and that kind of display. If you can handle 16" 4K, there are definitely faster and better options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Catch from The Computer is Fine, Except... There are too many pop ups offering this and that, no matter what I'm working on or doing. Very annoying. Also, there was a time that transferring data from an old computer to a new one went off without a hitch. Now, some info doesn't translate correctly in the new computer and some is just lost. All of that notwithstanding, I still like this laptop and will continue to work on resolving my issues with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 20+ year customer from Laptop stopped charging Thunderbolt port stopped working. Called customer service and told them that not only does the cord not work but other items I plug into the port won’t work. Instead of them addressing my issue of a possible bad port, the lady sent me a new adapter. Shipping said I would get it the day after my return window closed. Completely unserious company. Unless things change this will be my last HP computer. Do better HP.

Followed prices and specs on newer laptops and arrived at this model. Very powerful laptop and fast. Does everything I ask it to do. Great 17.3 inch display screen. Easy to setup but a bit on the heavy side as expected with a larger screen laptop. Was a great buy direct from HP during the black friday special sale. definitely a model that is compatible and competitive with its competition. certainly would recommend

Forcing me to spend $179.99 at Best Buy to have OS reinstalled losing all my personal programs. Core memory protection which inhibits some program intalls can also drive a user up the wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by What the heck1 from What the heck I bought this computer for a very reasonable price considering what it had. First, the website stated that I could get my computer in 2-3 days for a price, so I paid. By time I finished, it was going to take two weeks to get it. But I didn't have a computer (my wifi reader died) and I agreed. I asked that it be delivered to my mother's home, where I was going to be for the holiday. Initially it was supposed to be delivered on Nov 26-28. When I called to inquire about it on the 27th, I was told that I had to wait until the 28th passed. I agreed even though it was senseless seeing that the computer was still in China at the time. Then later I got an email/text to say it wasn't coming until the Dec 2. I was going to be home by then so delivering it was pointless. I called to inform them of this. I was told that it would not be delivered and it was. Luckily a porch pirate didn't get it. So I asked my mother to send it back immediately, and she did. It arrived at HP warehouse within 2-3 days, making it about Dec 5-6. I called to inquire about my refund. I was told that it would take up to 3-5 business days to get the refund because someone had to check out the computer. I was not happy but I didn't have any recourse. After 5 days I called again to ask where my refund was. I was told that they were doing an enhanced investigation, for what reason I don't know. The computer was in its original packaging, unopened. I called again and the person stated that she would expedite my refund because they had exceeded the 3-5 days. She came back and stated that I wasn't getting a refund now because of the "enhanced investigation". Needless to say I didn't have any extra funds to purchase a computer because HP was tying up my funds. I missed countless opportunities for discounts and a quality computer. I did eventually receive my refund 3 weeks later than expected! Why...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steve J Utah from I love my new HP Envy Laptop I love my new HP Envy Laptop 17t-cw100, 17.3" computer. With the solid state hard drive, the laptop boots up in seconds compared to minutes for my old Envy Laptop. The screen resolution is fantastic where I'm watching videos or viewing pictures I have taken with my digital cameral. It is very light, which makes it easy to carry. The price wasn't exorbitant and worth the customization I requested. This computer is great for home use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Computer lover from Lifelong satisfied customer. After buying higher end HP Products for 20 years I have never been disappointed. While certain aspects of the numerous laptops were not always to my liking, purchasing them throughout the years I viewed the efforts to bring them up to date and make changes to accommodate users. Warranty issues were always addressed in a quick fashion which left me completely satisfied as well. I have yet to find a reason to go anywhere but HP for computer needs. My current purchase is no exception and it's always a joy to buy a new HP laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from The HP Envy Laptop 17-cw1097nr is good, but has some inconveniences. Mostly, I like my HP Envy Laptop 17-cw1097nr, but there are a few problems. There is only one Ctrl button. It is on the left, so I need to use two hands to use Ctrl+Home, which I use frequently. Also, the Function keys are secondary functions. I have to use Ctrl with them. They should be the primary functions of the function keys. If HP wants their new primary functions to be primary, then they should be separate keys, but activating them with the Ctrl would be OK. Next, there is no right-click button with the touch pad. I can left-click by double clicking the pad, but I need a mouse to right-click. I right-click all the time. Finally, the computer loses where I am when typing. Sometimes, it jumps to a spot earlier in my text or it goes to someplace outside my text area. While typing this, the focus jumped down to the Submit button. I also have problems with Windows 11, but that is Microsoft's fault.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from I'm committed to the Envy laptops I'm committed to the Envy laptops and this is my second one. I had the first one for about 8 years and it served me pretty well. I like the 17.3" laptop that's still thin and sleek. I like the big screen and the number pad. I modified the laptop to get a huge SSD and lots of RAM so that it will be speedy for years to come. I have been using mine for about a month now. The only things I've been sad about: (1) I didn't realize I opted for no touchscreen and that's taken getting used to, (2) the speakers could be a bit better on this edition, and (3) the camera quality could be better, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DJ KIM from Why I picked HP Envy laptop 17-cw1097nr. My previous laptop was HP Spectre x360, but this time I chose HP Envy, I don't need touch screen, higher resolution with clear screen is more important. And also, I chose 32GB on board memory. That was very good for the smooth performance. Keyboard is soft and good, but the speaker is not Bang & Olufsen speakers that HP Spectre had it. But laptop speaker is small, I don't see any distinctive difference between old and current model. Overall performance is very satisfactory. I used to run 20 Chrome browser taps and about same number of Bing browser, and I don't see any performance degradation. Same on MS office.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JesseMar from Not the best support After a two and a half week wait for them to ‘customize’ my computer. I had 10 great days of use. I upgraded the screen to the 4k variant along with upgraded WiFi. I had practically no problems until it randomly shut down and refused to turn on. After finding HP support (with some difficulty) and speaking to a representative, they informed me that I needed to send it to a repair specialist across the country. They did give me the option to pay for expedited shipping which I refused. I received an email stating they received my computer and then support became non-existent for 12 days. I received one phone call asking if they could factory reset my computer, which I obliged. I am now still waiting for them to fix my computer however they have contacted me and set my new arrival date to two weeks away. I believe without expedited shipping.

I would want to hook up two 4K displays to this computer. How would I do this with the thunderbolt ports?

Asked by: sys45
Hello. Thanks for your question. There are a couple of options you can do. You can get 2 Thunderbolt 4 cables that would plug into the Thunderbolt ports (oval shaped). The other end would be HDMI or DisplayPort. Make sure the cable matches the ports on the monitors. The other option is to use a Thunderbolt docking station. If you choose a dock, ensure it has two video outputs compatible with your displays (e.g., dual DisplayPort or HDMI). Make sure both the cables and the docking station (if using one) support 4K resolution.
