Vegas strip in your bedroom!
Doesn’t matter how you go about it the RGB lights will not stay off. Even called their support and they agent came out and said “it’s complicated it involves command prompts and even then they won’t always stay off.” That was a verbatim quote. I have a towel over the tower while watching movies as these obnoxious lights make watching anything impossible. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OMEN.

Omen 40L is a solid pre built PC.
The 40L PC is great. The case stays cool under heavy gaming, and has a user friendly omen hub app to customize lighting. I’ve noticed two downsides. First, the front diamond RGB light glitches when putting the PC to sleep or during other common functions. The other downside is when you receive the delivery you may have to recable some cables as they were not aesthetic upon delivery.

Slow, slow, slow
This PC runs slower than the one I wanted to replace. Windows 11 didn't help speeds operations up, either. I was looking for a PC that would be snappy in getting things done, not this boat anchor.

Love the system, hate the silly lights....
I love this computer except for one annoyance which are the colorful lights and the awful HP provided app to manage them called OMEN Gaming Hub. Not everyone wants "gaming style" lights on a gaming PC. I'm retired and I play games. I supported computers during my career, and I appreciate the speed and quality of the build of this PC but as a retired guy, the lighting is a bit much. I purchased mail order so was not able to see this before I owned the system. If something wakes the computer in the middle of the night, like a mouse move or an update restart the lights from the inside of the PC light up the entire room. It lights up the bedroom too. I app to configure the lights is horrible. The lighting section of the app is missing labels on software buttons and it's a pretty much an unintuitive experiment in lighting configuration every time you try to use the app. Then when the app receives an update it blows away the configuration and you must start all over again with a newly updated app. Additionally, the app is bloated with advertisements the overwhelm the experience and add to the confusion. I love this PC and I really want to give it five stars but last night I had to crawl of of bed at 1:00AM and turn off the PC because about once an hour both the monitors lit up for a few seconds and went back to sleep only to repeat later in the night. Why did you put a strip of LEDs on each of the memory strips? Annoying and at my age silly. Consider how bright they are in the middle of the night. A single strip WILL light an entire room. What do you think four of them do in addition to the plethora of other lights in the system? It is bright! I do not regret that I made the purchase, but I would happily do without the lights. Please give me a simple single off switch for the lights.

Arrived broken. Nightmare replacement/exchange process so far. Hopefully the replacement will work.
Computer arrived with motherboard error code. It appears that the ram was bad. In order to get the problem resolved I had to be on the phone with HP for close to six hours across multiple days. They transferred me from department to department until I finally got in contact with a helpful supervisor. The replacement/exchange process required me to ship the broken(new computer) back to HP. Only once they recieved it would they begin to build the replacement. I am currently waiting for that replacement to be built and shipped to me. I had to ask the supervisor if they would do anything to make this whole process right and she said the best they could do was offer expedited shipping once the replacement was built. I understand that computer have broken components but the whole process was a nightmare. I have built previous PCs but ordered this one because the cyber Monday deal was good and it should have been less of a hassle. I didn't want to write this review but I kept getting emails from HP to review the product so here I am. If the replacement arrives in working order I will update my review after using it.

Great PC at a great price, just stalk it.
I was able to snag this with a 'corporate' discount through my workplace that compounded with an ongoing sale. It took about two months for the stars to align, but I finally pulled the trigger. If you have your eye on a 40 series prebuilt at a reasonable price, keep an eye on this until the sales drop the price to 1800, then stack a workplace discount on top of that. My final price on this including tax and free shipping was around 1720, which is a fantastic price given the components. My wife recently got a custom built Alienware that she paid more pound-for-pound, but even she said that the Omen 'looks better' and is better organized inside. The only slight drawback with this is the 16 GB RAM, but that's easy to replace if you wanted to upgrade. This is our third Omen pre-built and we haven't had any issues with them so far, fingers crossed and knock on wood.

1440p BEAST
This prebuilt is fantastic. My primary use is for 1440/4k gaming and easily gets over 60 fps with ultra settings and diss on. Even more fps on first person shooters. It’s quiet, looks great, keeps cool and sips power usage if you want it to. So far it’s only glitch was that it didn’t read one of the ram sticks. Once I restarted the pc it hasn’t done it again thankfully.

Amazing fast. Well constructed.
Mechanically well constructed and very solid. I tried every demanding game I could find on my 4k display including CyberPunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Crysis, and X-plane 12. I turned all the settings up to max. I didn’t achieve any fps less than 50/sec. The unigine worst case fps was > 90/fps. While doing this the Nvidia RTX 4070 got as hot as 76 C and the fans were barely on. Blender ran quickly and without hesitation. This is a VERY quiet computer. The fans only became noticeable when I started running some protein folding calculations on Boinc. The cpu ran at 100% as expected and the fans came up to full speed. Once terminated it cooled down very fast. My biggest complaint is related to storage. It only has one M.2 nvm slot. This means I have to do an image copy or full restore to increase the size of my 1TB C drive. It does have 2 sata trays but only 1 power cable.

Good Deal, expected performance.
Excellent deal when on sale! While the 650 watt PSU is adequate for the build, I think that they really should have made the 750 watt PSU the baseline. Fortunately some of the bloatware such as McAfee and other unnecessary resource hogging programs can be easily removed (don't forget to run MCPR tool. So far I've only experienced one issue where an HP update seemed to have conflicted with a Win-11 update. After booting to safe mode and going back to a restore point I was able to get everything sorted out. Overall, good value for the cost when on sale. The whole unit was within $300 of what I can build a similar unit for. I was directly shopping this Omen versus a Lenovo with exact matching specs. While the Lenovo was several hundred dollars cheaper, they tend to use generic components with the exception of CPU/GPU, so the HP build appealed more to me - I like Kingston, WD and CoolerMaster components.
The sole use for this unit is to drive my flight simulator. No production, entertainment or gaming software installed.

I don't need computer lit up like Christmas tree!
So far, so good. I like it, but for one annoying issue; no matter what I do in the settings for the lighting effects, I can't get the white lights out on the front panel and the internal fan to shut off. They stayed out for a few days, then came back on and won't go off again. I don't need my computer lit up like a Christmas tree!

Powerful, yes, and nice and quiet too, but just a few days in and I've been beset by quality issues which have required frequent restarts (restarts which are interminably long, too). My Bluetooth mouse keeps losing connection, hilariously considering it never did this with a laptop that was basically breaking down otherwise.
This really shouldn't happen with a PC at this price point.

Great system, professional delivery. HP quality!
Everything was top notch with HP, the purchase process, the shipping and packaging, and the PC itself. No buyer’s remorse here! From being a top quality computer with an easy boot-up and set up, to its superb appearance and operation, this has been an excellent experience.
I would have liked some better sales documentation before purchase, where it wouldn’t have been so difficult to ascertain the specifications though. Photos of the motherboard would have been extremely helpful, whereby the number of slots and on board SATA connectors could have been easy to see. And motherboard documentation would have been nice (I’m still not sure about the motherboard, perhaps it’s an Ascendtecho product. Other than that, I’m very satisfied. (And I’ll likely buy a new 27” HP monitor soon, 3G6W0AA#ABA or 780G8AA#ABA also, using the HP rewards points!)

Beyond Pitiful!
Very Disappointed!!! The BIOS is very primitive in that it will not display a boot selection menu for dual booting. In order to do a boot selection, I have to manually get into the menu via numerous presses on the f9 key. According to the HP service technician, the "boot option display" is only available in the "business grade" computers. Amazing that my 2007 old HP had this feature!
The second day of ownership, BitLocker locked up my system. After a lot of searching, I found out that I had a Microsoft account, that I never created, and it had the unlock key… it turned out to be invalid. I had to completely reinstall the O/S.
Finally, if boot from another O/S, back into Windows, the clock time display shows a 5 hour difference from my actual time. I have to either go into the BIOS settings to change it or execute the time resync.
I would never recommend this model to anyone.

We've used this for Fortnite, video editing, and school work (all at the same time on some days), and this PC doesn't break a sweat. The temperature stays low, it's quiet, and very fast. With near high settings, we can get 180fps in Fortnite or 600fps with low settings.

I got the desktop with a discount. The price was fair. Good product. Many people mentioned the ventilation issue, so I won't talk about it any more. HP posted a video on Youtube to show how to install extra fans. The only trouble with my desktop is that after the PC was delivered at my house, the power switch was broken with the spring missing.

A well built prebuild
Killer deal. For 1300ish after tax.... The thing packs a punch. People say it runs hot but I don't think 120°F is terrible. Especially under load on max settings. It popped up to 140°F the other day.... I accidentally ran ARK and sea of thieves together for 4 hours 🤷 only complaint I have is the fans are not ARGB as advertised. But you can't build this PC for cheaper. (11/30/22)
