Great Gaming Laptop
I purchased the HP OMEN so that my grandchildren can play their games and also I can do what I need it for. It's a great laptop. Runs fast, screen is sharp and colors are perfect. I had no trouble setting it up. At home I connected it to desktop monitor, gaming keyboard and gaming mouse so they can use it at the desk when home. My grandson was excited, because we can take it with when camping. He likes it as much as the OMEN desktop we got him for his birthday. It is a great product.

Great laptop from everyday to gaming
This laptop has great quality build and looks. It is very versatile to do everyday tasks and some intense tasks; it can handle everything you'll realistically need. The only drawback is not having a number keypad, but that isn't a big issue. Again, great quality and look for the price. Great value.

Defective upon delivery. After less than a week the wifi board stopped showing up. I had to keep removing it in the device manager and rescanning for changes. But even only helped occasionally before disappearing again.

Amazing laptop, almost no complaints and absolutely zero dealbreakers. Would Recommend.
Great Laptop and runs pretty much anything you throw at it (Med. settings=120+ fps on fortnite, apex, games like that. High settings you could usually get 120 fps but not always consistently, crazy high graphics settings just won't run that well for the most part, it's not a $3000 PC you get what you pay for. I got it with the RTX 4060, intel 14700 HX, 16gb RAM and the 1440p 240hz screen. Looks amazing, and yes, if you're running games on it with high graphics it's gonna make some noise, but if you have any sort of listening device (earbuds, headphones etc.) you won't notice it. Its got a lil heft to it, but if you have a bag for it for traveling you should be fine. Charges fast, and when doing schoolwork or casual video watching it should last you an hour or two, some sacrifices must be made to fit all that good gaming laptop stuff in there, gaming without it plugged in makes it run bad so just plug it in. Has plenty of USB (type A and B) ports for all your gaming needs. The only true thing that i am kind of upset about is that the material used for all of the outside is this material that just attracts all the oil off your hands, so buy a keyboard and mouse (got a great keyboard off amazon for like $20 and it works like a dream). The built in software to control fan speeds, internet controls, and view all your temperatures is really helpful and convenient. Very good first PC for gaming in my opinion and I would highly recommended this for people looking for a medium range laptop that doesn't have a crazy price tag. Yes there are some downsides, but again, it's all so you can get what really matters (graphics+fps) for an amazing price. Love this laptop, will be continuing to use it for gaming and school 9/10 overall. 9/10 For gaming, 10/10 screen resolution and refresh rate, 8/10 because it's a bit hefty but it's not unbearable, 9/10 for heat displacement, (gets hot on your lap when gaming so don't do that, but otherwise the cooling system works amazing!) 8/10 build quality (fingerprint attracting material on all of it) 10/10 for bang for your buck. If you're looking for a gaming laptop for multiplayer games THIS IS THE PERFECT ONE! If you want crazy graphics just spend more money on the 4070 or 4080 version and get the 32 gb RAM too otherwise you'll hate yourself.

Not worth the price.
1st one would not charge. The cord was loose in the port. The 2nd one will only hold a charge for 3 to 3 1/2 hours of browsing on the internet. No gaming involved. Just looking on the internet. For the price it should have at least 8 hours of browsing time.

Omen 16, My Thoughts
For the most part, I very much like the Omen 16 gaming laptop. One thing I desperately hate is the lack of number keypad. I use this function quite a bit and as someone who is visually impaired trying to hunt for numbers in the main keyboard is very difficult. I can't figure out why this was not included. The other major issue I have is Windows 11. I hate it. There is no way to adjust the taskbar icons size and I can no longer move the taskbar to the left, right or top of my display window. This is very annoying for me. Also, the normal display adjustments are strange. I now have to adjust each tab window text separately instead of one adjustment in settings, because the settings only adjusts the fonts and not other things. I finally found a bit of balance but some things are much smaller than others while some are much bigger. Overall, the gaming is fantastic. So far, I have had no issues with fps drops while gaming and load times are perfect. I have only had the laptop for a few weeks so I don't know how helpful this review is but at the moment it's all I have. I would still purchase this laptop even with the missing keypad because of the beefy gaming it provides. It is my second Omen and while smaller and lighter it seems to be every bit as beefy as the last. I hope it's a reliable.

Nice laptop
Runs Fortnite at epic quality and there's no lag even with other games installed! Highly recommend for new gamers looking for something decent for their money. Only con is that the product photos showed lighting under the keys, but mine doesn't have the option to change the colors to anything but the default white, but this could also be due to my configurations, and I didn't check for this. Could use some more usb ports too. Other than this it's great!

Solid upgrade
Was able to replace my old Omen from Aug 2017 (which still works). Main reason for replacement was that it is getting old and I would rather switch before it fails.
This new one has no hard disk drive (uses solid state instead) and the fans seem quieter.
I am disappointed that the number of USB ports has gone down substantially (this new Omen only has two USB 2.0 ports (one on the side and one on the back), which is pitiful, though it has two USB 3.0 ports). I guess we are in a transitionary period from USB 2.0 to 3.0 so to some extent it's inevitable. I am thankful that it still has HDMI.
I dislike that the power button is integrated with the keyboard now. It's difficult to find by simply feeling for it since it feels like any other key. The old Omen had a dedicated power button which was very tactile. Overall I am happy with the keyboard, though.
The design is very sleek, comfortable to hold and use. The old Omen's shape was somewhat awkward, so this feels like an improvement.
The new Windows 11 version is very irritating. You are forced to use a Microsoft account if you don't know better. You can get around it by opening up the command line and running some commands (you can Google how to do it online). There are also a lot of ads and bloat enabled by default (this is Microsoft's bloat not HP's), which require some Windows settings and registry changes to disable.
No option to have your computer not ship with McAfee antivirus. It's somewhat unnecessary in this day and age and was yet another thing I had to take the time to uninstall.
The HP software it comes with is modest and unintrusive. You might want to uninstall some of it but the size and quantity is small enough that it's no big deal.

I had an Omen before this one that lived a long life before it got hit by lightning. I love this laptop, the cord ports being in the back does wonders for cable management, the backlit keyboard is awesome. It's a lot lighter than my last one.

Despite the good price during sales, horrible experience overall
During sales, the lowered price brings this laptop to a good spec-to-price ratio, however my experience so far was disastrous: First of all my laptop delivery got delayed by 2 weeks despite the numerous reassurances that it wouldn't be late, after that the screen got dead pixels on it, built-in diagnostics tool is NOT WORKING (always cancels my tests), serial number is a reused outdated laptop model that resulted in me being denied ALL TYPES OF SUPPORT online save for phone calls, warranty information was incorrect and I had to dispute the warranty, and the worst is that we don't even have a dead pixel policy for laptop display screens. Support tried to brush me off by just telling me to look at HP pixel policy document when 1. the document does not pertain to laptop displays and 2. 0 dead pixels are allowed according to the policy. Terrible experience so far. Think twice before buying expensive stuff online especially here.

A bad OMEN from
This gaming computer never actually worked to play games coming out of the box.
The OMEN computer was shipped to me with a bad video card. I went through many hours of troubleshooting with HP, where they had me load and reload all the drivers and operating system over and over again, but to no avail. Now I am waiting for a replacement from HP, but they are dragging their heels on doing that as well. Not a great experience.

The laptop is good but in the first time I got a defective piece in the worst experience I ever have with the HP I think 25 chats more than 15 calls.. like after 1 month I got the new one and that and that also they send an old place. I spend more than $150 on just for the Uber to get my laptop, return the old one

A hiccup with this one
I enjoyed having this laptop while it was working. Unfortunately, it began crashing to a black screen. It would recover in a minute or so. I used CPUID HWMonitor and saw that the CPU was spiking into the red. Decided to try HP's fan diagnostic. It ran for a minute or two and then black screened again and this time did not recover. Took it to BestBuy for warranty repair (12/13/23). They ordered a part but had no ETA on when they'd recieve it. On 1/19/24 they called to say it was ready for pickup at the local store. I got it on 1/20/24 and found it was unrepaired. I turned it on, it got to the desktop and crashed to black. Attaching to an external monitor doesn't work. I now have to figure out the warranty return with HP. In over 30 years of buying HP products, this is the first time I've had an issue. In my view, quality products, occasional problems. I would, and will, buy again from HP.

Great components, weak battery life
I’m no computer expert but I did my best to research about gaming laptops because I wanted something that can run games for a casual gamer. The storage and RAM is great for this, and the processor is very strong, graphics look good to me, however my network is so bad that my games still have high ping and horrible fps so I can’t speak on how well it actually works for games. The fan is quiet for games like valorant at least 30 mins or so before it gets louder, but it’ll be less annoying if you have headphones on. For another lighter game the fan didn’t get loud after an hour. It does get hot but stays within a safe range, it goes to around 140 F when gaming. The omen gaming hub lets you see the temp of the GPU and CPU which is nice and also optimizes your laptop for gaming by freeing ram The battery life is weak though. It doesn’t last outside the charger. I had it around 80% before I took it off the charger and played a game that isn’t that demanding, it died after less than an hour.
Design wise it is really sleek and nice looking. One thing about it that I didn’t expect is that the letters on the keyboard are stylized. This doesn’t really bother me but if you are someone who needs to look down at your keyboard you may get confused. For example in this keyboard font, D and O are indistinguishable.

The last time I'll ever order an HP.
As other users have mentioned, the shipped laptop doesn't appear to reflect the specs listed on the product page. After reading some of these reports, I politely tried to cancel my order about 36 hours after it was placed. HP's website says to call or chat to cancel after the first 24 hours, but I was denied a cancellation. Customer service manager Jayme was sarcastic, unapologetic, and seemed to purposefully ignore simple concepts, suggesting to me that it appeared I was trying to cancel because of "remorse," rather than on the basis of the black and white evidence I presented of HP's bait and switch marketing. On top of all that, my laptop was not delivered much later than the promised date, so there's really no reason why they couldn't have cancelled the order when I tried. Be very cautious before you buy from HP, because as soon as you press the order button they'll treat you like dirt.

I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this laptop. Very responsive screen refresh using 802.11ax on 6e. band. I upgraded memory, storage and graphics so I can't really compare it to a base model. I bought this on Black Friday and was pleased to use the discount for upgrades and would do that again.

Idk 🤷♂️
I haven't even downloaded anything yet but even the clicking to go to things like settings is loading slow ..(like sometimes when i click its blank for a second or two before loading things. For instant im clicking the button right to check on the battery level and it doesnt automatically show. The little box pops up blank and then after a second or two it shows the options i can click.) For a i7 and a 13th gen with adequate 16 ram I'd assume something like this would be a breeze for it to do. Secondly the battery kind of drains pretty quick. Though i brought it up to some people and they tell me its normal for a gaming laptop (checking online the battery replacement on amazon is like $35 only so not that big of a deal to replace the battery in the future) i dont really use my computer or this laptop all that much... just saw it on sale and looked like a good deal so i bought it to surf the web only not to really play games. But kind of feel the desktop i bought 2 years ago thats an i5 with 8gb ram is faster 🤔😅 but im basing that only on that little box being blank when i click to go to settings/battery information

Meets my needs
I didn't buy this laptop for gaming, I needed a more robust GPU for processing digital photos. In that respect, it is a big improvement over my previous laptop. The ergonomics is somewhat awkward. The HDMI and USB and AC power ports are at the back of the computer and difficult to reach. It would have been nice to have a SD card reader. I had to buy a third party device to transfer photos from the camera to the laptop.

The jury is still out on this computer.
I've only used this computer for a few days. I must say that I am perplexed by what seems to be an unusual number of times when the computer gets hung up on browser pages. I'm also a bit frustrated by the touchpad. I've tried to adjust the sensitivity but I find many times that my push on the trackpad does not bring about the expected action. I am willing to give it more time before I make up my mind about the computer. Perhaps Carbonite running in the background to bring over all of my files from my old computer is having an effect on the function of the computer.
