Rated 3 out of 5 by JDC— from Good machine but not great This computer basically lives up to its advertised capacity but it would be better with a touchscreen, micro SD card, and a bit faster processor—hesitates a bit with word processing longer text documents (no photos).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Janimal from Super lightweight laptop with a great display Incredibly lightweight (just under 1 kg/2.2 pounds) and slim for much less than other ultra portable laptops. The screen is brilliant! My configuration - AMD Ryzen 5 w/ 8 Gig memory 1 TB SSD Backlit keyboard 3 Year Pickup And Return with Risk Free for NB The fingerprint reader is very convenient and makes it easy to securely log in. The dual charging is extremely convenient - use the supplied small charging brick with its charging plug or use charge via the USB C port. I use a small 100 watt multi-port USB charger instead of the heavier & bulkier HP supplied 65 watt charger making it very easy for carrying for traveling. I would already be travelling with a multi-port USB charger for my other USB devices such as my phone, watch and battery pack.so I can eliminate the charging brick & heavy thick cords. Only negative is that there is only 1 USB C port but has 2 USB A ports. When charging via the USB C port, there is no place to plug in an USB-C device. Small NITPICK - the power button is in an odd location - 2nd key from the right on row of function keys. It would be easier to locate if it was in an isolated location rather than embedded within the function keys. Side note - one reviewer lamented that the Aero is not a LENOVO implying it's not as good. I have a 2.3 pounds Lenovo Ideapad that cost a lot more and MANY things have failed on it even though it is not very old. My Lenovo freezes frequently, the keyboard dies until the laptop is powered off and allowed to "rest" then it revives itself, not to mention that it gets too hot to touch and has speakers on the underside that produces muffled sound when on my lap. The Aero also has speakers underneath but are at least angled out to the side which the Lenovo is not. That same reviewer states that a Lenovo's keyboard is better but I don't feel much of a difference. On the keyboard subject, I appreciate and make much use of the column of keys on the right with dedicated HOME, Page UP & Down & END keys. My Lenovo requires me to use the FUNCTION key and then PRESS the HOME, Up / Down Arrow and END keys to execute the same navigation with a single key, not 2 keys in conjunction. All in all, very happy. I hope this new one lasts as long as my other HP Laptops. I am typing this review on an HP laptop that is so old that it came with Windows 8 with a mechanical HARD DRIVE and does not even have bluetooth and it is still going strong, albeit, slowly as to be expected for such an old laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Perfect for my needs. Perfect for my needs. Small, lightweight, and a ton of storage. Much easier to travel with than my old, reliable, HP 17" laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EricBri from Ideal lightweight, slim travel laptop offers business quality at a value price Exactly what I was looking for in a travel laptop. Fast processor, great keyboard, good brightness, higher resolution option makes a difference on the eyes and creates a larger desktop on a small screen. Touchpad clicks are a little stiff, but not annoyingly so. RTL8852BE wifi driver not automatically found in Linux Mint install, so Windows it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jason B. from Solid Specs, But I Have Trouble Recommending It On sale, around $550.00 US, this isn't a bad laptop. The Processor, RAM, and battery life are all good at that price point, but there are more than a few pain points I have with it that make it difficult to recommend. The Ryzen 5 paired with 16gb of LPDDR5 is good enough and fast enough for the majority of folks. Anyone who isn't trying to run creator apps or games on this thing should be fine. The RAM is soldered to the board (anything sporting LPDDR is), which means upgrading it is impossible. I consider this a huge misstep on HP's - and every manufacturer's - part, but this is common practice on thin and light laptops. 256gb of storage is just not enough in 2024; with no other apps installed, hampered by HP's bloatware, you're losing almost 50gb right off the bat. Luckily, it's just an m.2 ssd and can be swapped in about fifteen minutes by anyone with a bit of expertise. My only complaint here is that HP hid the screws to remove the bottom case under the rubber feet. Good luck getting them off in one piece, and good luck getting them back on if you do. The display... Oh, where do I begin... To be honest, HP's displays have always lagged behind other manufacturers in the space, and despite the fact that promises 100%sRGB at 400 nits, it's... not great. Chiefly it comes down to black uniformity, light bleed, and brightness stepping. Black uniformity is terrible, mostly because of the light bleed so common to HP laptops that the company doesn't consider it a problem. If you buy it, be prepared to deal with it. Lastly, the display's stepping from dimmest to brightest isn't great; it's hard to dial in a good brightness in medium lighting conditions, which makes the screen either just a hair too dim or eye-searingly bright. On the good side, 400 nits is pretty bright, which means outdoor use on non-sunny days is at least possible. My other big issue is the build quality. The hinge feels distressingly light and easy to move, but not in a 'MacBook' sort of way, more a 'I'm gonna snap this thing if I move it too hard' way, and the overall feel of the laptop is cheap and hollow, not helped by the thin metal they made the casing out of to keep weight down. The result is a laptop that feels cheap, even though it's made from 'premium' materials. On the bright side, the laptop is super light, and packs well. Battery life is good at this price range at about 8 hours of real-world use, and the keyboard is acceptable, if uninspiring with a heavy keypress and not a lot of travel. A Lenovo thinkpad this ain't, but it's not pretending to be. One odd note about the keyboard, though: while it is backlit, that feature doesn't seem to extend to the spacebar. I thought this was a defect, but other models of consumer HP laptops I've seen have the same issue, and all the digging I've done seems to indicate that this is an intentional design decision, which is... very odd. TL;DR: Is it bad? No. Is it good? Also no. There are better thin and light options out there, and after dealing with HP's tech support, customer service, and escalations team after a nine-month odyssey of pain regarding a different laptop, I have serious reservations about ever recommending you buy any of their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by David_B. from A nice, very light laptop for travel I wasn't looking for a cutting edge laptop; I needed something small and light that would run Microsoft Office and let me do email and zoom meetings on the road. This laptop works really well for that purpose. It's small and very light, and it was very easy to set up. An excellent choice for someone who travels and has modest computer needs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by WOW HP major fail from Ummm.... WiFi not working... this is sort of a big deal on a laptop WiFi won't connect to any network. When the laptop first tries to set up, Windows 11 will not let you start without an internet connection. But then the WiFi doesn't connect to any network (not my home router, not my iPhone hotspot, not an xfinity public hotspot. The problem is clearly THIS HP laptop, because I bought two other laptops from HP (in the same shipment) and they connected to internet immediately on the first try. Eventually I plugged in the laptop to wired ethernet via a USB adapter, and Windows 11 sets up like it's supposed to. But even after updating drivers for the WiFi via this wired connection, the WiFi still won't work. This is just horrible quality control on HP's part. I'm sending this back for a replacement or refund. I've already spent hours trying to fix this, and I'm not some tech illiterate person...

Rated 5 out of 5 by tanaka from More than expected, light and powerful First impression is feeling lighter than expected. I had concerned that Ryzen CPU was powerless for my usage before purchasing, but it could satisfy with my heavy work. Graphic, SSD, sound; all are more than expected.
