Rated 4 out of 5 by Kim921 from Power Button Next To Delete Button - Makes no sense I believe the unit will perform as I expected - but absolutely hate that the delete button is next to the power button in the middle of the keypad and is small. I will never understand why it is positioned in that location. I may return it since it is so easy to miss the delete and I don't want to deal with that on a daily basis

Rated 5 out of 5 by TLTho from HP Envy 17.3 It’s fast enough for me. The only issue I had when setting up was about the third day using it the screen became grainy and pixelated. I shut it down and restarted.and haven’t had any more problems since. Battery life is good, around 6 hours. Haven’t used it much lately but, looking forward to using it more. Thank you hp

Rated 1 out of 5 by labluvr from What is advertised as processor speed is not the true speed you receive! I bought this based on the recommendation of 2 online HP sales people, I explained what my main objectives were and they missed the boat. I thought I was buying a 4.8 mhz processor and it was 1.4. I could get up to the 4.8 with turbo boost but not suggested as it could blow up the processor and I couldn't do it myself. I told them my #1 was streaming softball. You cannot do it on this computer. It was returned

Rated 4 out of 5 by Elliott 11 from Improvements Have Been Made Improvements have been made on the HP Envy when compared to my previous model. The keyboard is well lighted, and the letters is visible during the day. The pinching screen hinge has been eliminated. I would have like one more USB C outlet. However, this is a minor issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Heavy but gorgeous This is the first laptop I have bought myself since graduate school 30 years ago. However, I liked the HP laptops provided to me by my employer over the last 15 years, so that's the company I looked at when I left to go my own way. My main criteria was a large screen. This one is big and beautiful. I don't use it for gaming - just work, surfing the web and videos. The only shocker was how heavy she is. Oof. I mean it was in the specs, but I didn't quite anticipate how much more she would weigh than my old one - I mistakenly thought that getting rid of my ancient disk drive would lighten the load but screens are clearly heavy. Still - it fits in all my backpacks and carry abgs and that's all I need.

Rated 1 out of 5 by D. Gray-Young from Frustrating Hugely disappointing. I purchased this laptop because it represented the 2024 version of the Envy I purchased in 2016 which I loved and would still be using except the keyboard is dying. This is my 3rd HP laptop. The camera is awful, and the microphone worse. Clients cannot hear what I'm saying. A headset has not helped. I'm ready to send it back to the CEO; they deserve to have this frustrating experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Andrea_ from Impressed with graphics and speed performances I love this laptop. I use it for gaming and I'm very impressed with it's performance. For years I used the "D" brand but I don't regret switching to HP now. Highly recommend this laptop for gaming. Also, this laptop has a high speed internet card which makes browsing and downloading really fast.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SS2J from Wanted to Like It, Didn’t Work Out I really wanted to like this laptop. I had a 17 inch HP for the past 5 years and it was amazing! No problems until recently when it refused to charge (even after going to get it fixed). That being said I figured it was time for a new one. I chose this model because it had good reviews and I hoped it would be similar to my 2019(?) hp envy. Unfortunately it has not been. The first couple of weeks were good so I thought I was good to go. The last few weeks have been rough though. It’s been really slow (even though I got a temporary laptop and that one works fine with the wifi) so I don’t think it’s my internet. It’s shut off multiple times while I’ve been working despite being fully charged, it has also glitched when I have tried to switch tabs (I have a video of this) and most of the time I have to reload my webpages (although the other people who use laptops in my house don’t have to, and again when I use a loaner laptop — it’s fine). Also I feel like the sound on this laptop isn’t great it’s kind of muffled — both when you create videos (I record lectures) and when your are on video calls. I also am not the biggest fan of the keyboard. I know you can get external keyboards but I travel a lot and don’t really enjoy bringing another item. I’m pretty bummed because I wanted to like this laptop as much as my first Hp. It just hasn’t been the right fit. It’s also heavier than my old one. It is a pretty design though, and I like the new port for charging, and the physical shutter for the camera. I really wanted this to work! Unfortunately I don’t think it’s the laptop for me and my needs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Refund NYC from Too slow shipping from China Shipping took so long I had to cancel it since I was leaving on a trip before it would arrive. This was after paying for expedited shipping. It comes directly from China and was held for several days in customs. HP issued full refund. I can’t imagine it’s not simpler to bulk import common configurations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ceil from How things have changed! I bought my previous HP laptop in 2012. The PC environment has evolved There are certain new features I enjoy now (like the touchscreen, the lighter weight, the backlit keyboard [curbing the number of typing errors] and the wireless mouse), certain features I miss (only two USB ports instead of four, no disk drive (this laptop is thinner), no chip drive for moving photos from my camera to the laptop [admittedly, these days the phone is the preferred “camera”]), certain features I am unsure about (like MS OneDrive, which I’m still wrapping my head around, but that’s an MS thing), and things that still work (like certain, older apps I need that I wasn’t sure would work any more but thankfully still do—oh, that’s a Windows 11 thing), and certain things I truly do not need (WHY is Xbox here? I want to uninstall it). I am still in the process of setting everything up, and so far it’s going well. The set-up out of the box was easy, and easier than I expected. (I got my first computer in 1988, in the days of floppy-disc software installation and suitcases, and the vestiges of installation failures still lives in my bones!) As a music-instruction/typesetter/composer-type person, I’m using “expired” music software heavily at the moment and am glad it works here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dan McBro from nice and light, very slim and fast I am enjoying the light weight, high speed, and thin style of this PC. The Screen is amazing. angle, definition, colors, just great! The actual surface of the screen is a bit too reflective. I use this one at night and I see my backlit keyboard reflected in the bottom third of the screen. And the Keyboard! It is different from any keyboard I have ever used The light is bright, the font is nice and big. Like an old keyboard re-imagined! That is kinda cool. If I had picked a slightly more matte screen texture, this thing would be hitting it out of the park and all for a lowish price since I did not choose a discrete video card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by none left to select from Awesome computer except for the co-pilot key It's been 10 years since I've purchased a computer. My old HP still worked great, but I decided to get a new one and give my old one to my grandson. There have been a few changes in the last 10 yeas. My biggest frustration, and this is a big one for me, is the ill placed co-pilot key. I use the right control key frequently with the P for print, the home and end keys, etc. Now I have to figure out how to remap this key. What a pain, especially since I have no intentions of using co-pilot. I'm not keen on where the power button is placed as a slip of the finger and instead of hitting delete or the backspace keys I could easily hit the power key. This however, I can live with. The absence of the right control key I cannot live with. I love the speed, the memory, the C plug, the sleekness of the design, the smaller imprint for the same size screen, the number of USB ports, the keyboard that only takes a light touch to use, and the backlit keyboard. I disengaged the key pad and use a mouse as the key pad is very sensitive and picks up the slightest movement causing my curser to be all over the place. Maybe this is because I have small hands with short fingers and someone with longer fingers may not have this problem. I rated this a 4 at first because of that dang frustrating co-piolet key, but changed it to a 5 because this computer really is great.

My main intent for the purchase is to remain updated in capabilities. It is everything I expected. The large screen was an extra for me for ease of reading. Rated 1 out of 5 by GoForJosh from DO NOT BUY THIS I’ve had nothing but problems with this HP Envy 17t. First, the WiFi adapter randomly disappears from the system—it’s not even listed in the Windows device manager! I tried installing Windows 10, and that caused the speakers to completely vanish from the system. I was forced to go back to Windows 11 just to get basic functionality back. And to top it off, HP’s customer service is useless. They had the nerve to charge me for fixing a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place. Save yourself the headache—avoid this laptop at all costs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bad8* from Great but without an SD or DVD readers or writers. :-( When I purchased this computer, I showed the customer service rep a copy of what I had purchased four years prior, I said I wanted the same exact thing. Rated 1 out of 5 by John Alphabet from Bully tactics I recently purchased an HP Envy Laptop. (It shipped several days after the initial ship date.) An offer that came with it was a 30-day free trial of Microsoft Office. Since my institution provides me with an MS Office license I did not want but could not opt out of this offer. After installing and trying to run my licensed version of Office I was still required to agree to the free offer. There was no other option. The HP laptop was relentless in strongarming me into running the free trial and paying for Office. When I refused my licensed app (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) quit. There was no way of running my licensed copy of MS Office. Numerous messages to HP support about this dilemma were NEVER acknowledged. Finally, Microsoft tech support remotely took over my new HP laptop and eliminated the free offer mousetrap and nagging messages. It took them almost an hour. I struggled a long time on this and resent the aggressive forceful tactics. Terrible, terrible experience.

While I didn't expect a gaming level laptop, this new machine seems cheaply built compared to previous HP laptops. Most likely the bloatware on the system is why its slow, but you'd think a new system would run laps around th 5 year old one....and yet I miss my old machine.

Can't find registered products or contracts for Total Care or Smartfriend on website, so don't know if I am covered. No User Guides are supplied with the laptop, and the port diagrams in the one I found online for this model do not match the ports on the hardware. I need to know what the different ports are, I am hearing-impaired so the phone is difficult for me, but customer service only gives me phone numbers to call. They want serial numbers, but the serial numbers are not in the locations the help articles say they are supposed to be. Rated 5 out of 5 by LesleySaSa from Love this Laptop I am thoroughly impressed with my HP Envy 17.3-Inch Laptop PC! The large 17.3-inch screen provides ample space for multitasking and an immersive viewing experience. The facial recognition feature is incredibly convenient, allowing for quick and secure login without the hassle of typing passwords. This high-tech touch really enhances the overall user experience and adds an extra layer of security. While the laptop's performance and features are top-notch, there are a couple of minor drawbacks worth noting. The speakers occasionally sound a bit blown, which can be distracting during audio playback. Additionally, the mouse pad is quite large, and I sometimes accidentally brush across it while typing, which can shift the cursor unexpectedly. Despite these small issues, the HP Envy 17.3-Inch Laptop PC is an excellent choice for anyone needing a powerful and feature-rich laptop with a generous display. Highly recommended!
